The Session
BOOKING YOUR SESSION Your session starts with an initial phone conversation. During that time we’ll discuss locations, clothing options, and pricing. I love to be involved in the complete process from initial concept to arranging the display of final framed images in your home. Together, we will come up with a location – indoors or out – that will create meaningful images for your family. If your family is into boating we might shoot on your sailboat or motorboat. Perhaps a second home or special vacation spot would make a meaningful backdrop. My studio with oversized windows also has abundant natural light and is the perfect spot for maternity and newborn shoots, as well as any small group during the frigid winter months. A $350 session fee is due at time of booking. If you have to reschedule your session please give at least 48 hours notice, if you do not provide at least the minimum notice a $50 rescheduling fee will be charged. I will check in with you a few days before the shoot to confirm time, date, location, and most importantly, the weather. In the event that the sun is not shining, we will choose a new date.
DURING THE SESSION Unless it’s a mini-session, please expect the shoot will take approximately two hours. Sometimes this can be a challenge for young children. If your child is having a bad day it is not a problem to meet again for whatever is needed to get the right shot. To be extra prepared, bring a clean snack and a favorite toy to comfort them if they are feeling overwhelmed at the session. It is my number one goal to make you and your children comfortable in front of my lens. Children are unpredictable...so, it is my job to be ready for anything! Sometimes parents get frustrated because sessions don't seem to be going perfect...but, almost always, those small moments between all the tantrums and chaos turn out to be the perfect shot. So...the only job I give you as the parents is to relax and enjoy it! I will do all the hard work. I will give a lot of direction during the session so you will know exactly what to do. Children match your energy, so if you are relaxed and having fun, they will show you the same in return.
ORDERING YOUR PRINTS We will meet at my office about one week after your session to view your images and place your order. I will help you to choose the best images and sizes for your home. Examples of the two types of paper, the different print sizes and framing choices to complement your portraits will also be available. Once selected, your portraits are then printed by hand on museum-quality archival paper and completed with the chosen frame. See the "after the shoot" page for more detail.
